After a six-week break, we will reopen our studio next Monday, April 19!

However, some courses, such as Matias and Pinja’s salsa and bachata courses and Eve’s dancehall courses, will not yet continue in April, but in May. Information on the continuation of the courses will be sent to the participants by e-mail.

Register for the classes in advance through our reservation system.

Please cancel your reservation if you cannot make it to the class, so that someone else will get a chance to attend the class instead. You should do it at least six hours before the class starts.

We will continue to limit the number of participants in the classes to maintain safety distances. Please read our safety instructions before entering the studio.

CARLOS CAMBA Carlos Camba is from Angola and he has been teaching kizomba and semba in Finland since 2014. Carlos has studied dancing with several international dance teachers and developed his skills especially in Angola. During his classes, Carlos concentrates on developing basic techniques and body movements, especially the use of the hip. It is important to him that all the knowledge learnt during the classes can be applied to actual social dances.

Carlos finds it important to have a good relationship with his students. Humor blossoms in his classes. He highlights that everyone, who is motivated to learn, is warmly welcome to his classes.

KIZOMBA Kizomba music and dance were created in Angola in early 1980s when zouk, the popular music in the Caribbean, came to Angola and mixed with semba. Kizomba means a partyin Kimbundu language. In its country of origin, it is traditionally danced for example at weddings and at other parties. Kizomba is a social dance that is characterized by a close proximity and the lower body concentrated ginga, the body movement. Similar to tango, leading and following are done with the upper body and less with hands (compared to salsa). After its arrival in Europe, kizomba has developed into new styles, such as urbankizz and kizomba fusion.

SEMBA Semba is a fast-paced, fun couple dance. Semba has a long tradition in Angola, in its country of origin, and it has influenced other genres of music and dance, for example kizomba. The essential characteristics of semba include hooks, low liftings, the leader’s footwork and various tricks. In Dance Studio Flama, we start with the basics of semba and concentrate on the most important aspect: having fun!

Friday Flama party will be celebrated on Friday, the 12th of April from 9 pm to 01.30 am at Dance Studio Flama!

We will have two dance floors where salsa, bachata, reggaeton, kizomba and semba will be played late into the night. DJ Papi will play his best tunes and we will guarantee that we’re gonna have great time together!

The entrance fee is 8 / 7 € (the cheaper price by showing Flama’s valid punch card or Bailes Cubanos membership card). You can pay it by card or cash.

Remember to take your dance shoes or other indoor shoes with you because the shoes used outdoors will be left in the lobby.

Dance Studio Flama is located next to Turku Castle at Linnankatu 84. Bus Line 1 (Market Square–Turku Harbor) will stop just in front of Flama at the bus stop called Satamakatu and the bus trip from market square to the dance studio takes around 10 minutes. Check the bus schedule at http://www.foli.fi/ to choose the right time to come. If you decide to come by your own car, there are free parking spaces behind the dance studio and other parking options nearby, such as chargeable parking lots or ones requiring a parking disk.

Welcome to have fun and enjoy the best people, music and dances! ♥
