What is Flama?
Flama sprung to life by the inflammable passion for dance and movement. Flama is a Spanish word meaning flame.
Flama is an easy-going dance community that has two dance studios in Turku: Flama Linnankatu (Linnankatu 84) and Flama Rauhankatu (Rauhankatu 15).
At the end of August 2022, we gave up our studio on Eerikinkatu and moved from there to bigger premises on Rauhankatu.
Flama’s entrepreneur Anna Ketopaikka founded the studio in 2017. Our weekly schedule currently has over 90 weekly classes, instructed by around twenty teachers.
Our class selection includes a diverse range of solo and couple classes, from Latin dances to ballet and twerk, not forgetting body maintenance. The visiting teachers’ workshops, events and dance parties are an important part of Flama’s activities.
We also offer memorable dance performances to bachelorette parties, company parties, kids’ birthday parties, little Christmas parties and other events.
Flama’s central values include openness, accessibility, respect for different people and cultures and communality. The joy of dance and movement is a right that belongs to all of us, notwithstanding any gender, age, size or skill level.
Flama is a dance studio where we do not compete or compare. We want to create an inspirational, positive and encouraging atmosphere where all can enjoy dancing as themselves and ignite their own flame.
