Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.
What should I bring with me?
For the class, it is recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You can dance with indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Take your water bottle with you.
Salsa con Rumba
Cuban rumba is an important part of the rich blend that is Cuban salsa. There are three different styles of rumba: guaguancó, yambú, and columbia.
With this course we dive deeper into different styles of cuban rumba, rhythm and to the playful interaction that is rumba. We look into practical ways how to connect rumba to your salsa dancing.
During the course we practice technique of rumba, rythmics and expression and how we can connect our rumba naturally to the context of salsa. We aim to ground ourselves during the dance in a playful kind of way – that is typical for Cuban dances.
Course is fitting for dancers that already are comfortable with the basis of salsa and who want to dive deeper into cultural heritage of rumba.
Roberto La Rosa Martinez
Roberto “Robe” La Rosa Martinez is a Cuban dancer and dance teacher whose sunny classes are full of joy and positive energy cannot be avoided!
Robe was born in Havana, and started performing as a child with the famous Tony Menendez in various companies, before studying at the Escuela Nacional de Arte (ENA), the prestigious Cuban National School of Art, where he graduated as a professional dancer.
Robe combines his uncompromising professionalism with his own true love of dance. and teaching and confidence in finding one’s own dance style and – most importantly – the joy of dance.
