Lyrical Jazz, open level (7 sessions), Thursdays 27.8.–8.10. at 17.15–18.10, instructed by Lotta Lähteenmäki

In this course we focus on musicality, being present and improving ones own experssion. Lyrical Jazz is based on Jazz dance techniques and draw inspiration from contemporary dance.

In the classes warm-ups are done carefully and different techniques are practiced with variaty of drills and across the floor movement patterns. At the end of the classes we dance sequences coreographied by Lotta where we focus especially into musicality and expression.

Course is good for those who are used to dancing regularly, for example to those who have taken part in lyrical-, show-, jazz- and contemporary classes before. Previous experience with Lyrical Jazz is not required.

What if I can’t participate every week?

Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.

What should I bring with me?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and feel good.

Please bring also a long-sleeved shirt for floor exercises. You don’t need separate dance shoes, as the class is done in socks. Remember to bring a water bottle.

Lotta Lähteenmäki

Lotta Lähteenmäki graduated as a dance teacher in 2010 and has been teaching dance for over 20 years. Her teaching experience covers a wide range of genres, levels, and age groups. Lotta’s teaching combines the joy of movement, technical expertise, and a deep connection to one’s own body.

Lotta is also a trained yoga instructor and dance and movement therapist. These backgrounds are reflected in her teaching through gentleness, body awareness, and a compassionate approach to learning. Her classes have a warm, positive, and safe atmosphere where everyone is welcome to be themselves.

For Lotta, dance and movement are a lifelong love and source of strength. She believes that movement can heal, liberate, and empower—and that everyone has the right to find their own way of expressing themselves through dance.
