Description

Urban Kiz

Urban Kiz is a couple dance style developed from kizomba and it was born in Paris, France, in the 2010s. As a music style, Urban Kiz has been influenced by hip hop, ghetto zouk and R&B. This dance with African and Caribian influences combines smooth movements, intimate couple dancing and a delicate atmosphere created by the music. Urban Kiz emphasizes improvisation and communication between the dancers. The dance experience is intimate and emotional.

Tuomas Sirviö

Tuomas started dancing salsa and bachata while he lived in Paris, France. He returned to Finland in 2015, and after his return he found Kizomba, Semba and Urban Kiz, the latter of which stole his heart. Having participated in several dance festivals abroad, being taught by top teachers, he decided to complete the first part of Curtis Seldon and Carola Tauler’s Urbankiz teacher training in 2018. Since then, he has shared what he has learned and developed his teaching methods mainly in Turku.

“I hope my classes leave a positive vibe, provide good basics for urbankiz, encourage to interpret music and realize oneself on the dance floor without boundaries. See you in the dance classes and on the dance floor!
