Welcome to the Gentle Lyrical class, where you’ll start your day with gentle, flowing movements and delicate music! In this class, we’ll dance to choreographies designed by Vilma and explore the key elements of lyrical dance, such as smooth transitions, body alignment, and musical interpretation.
There are no floor exercises in this class, so the course is also well-suited for beginners as well as dancers for whom floor work is not suitable—for example, due to knee issues.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and feel good.
You don’t need any special dance shoes, because we dance in our socks during class. Remember to bring a water bottle.
In Lyrical Dance classes, you immerse yourself in expressive choreography and enjoy interpreting music through dance. The classes include contemporary and jazz dance technique exercises and rotating choreographies. In the choreographies, you practice expression and different movement qualities, such as flowing and accentuated movements. In lyrical dance, the choreographies are strongly built around the melody, accents, and lyrics of the music.

Vilma is a dance teacher who graduated from Oulu University of Applied Sciences in spring 2021. Her path led her to Oulu, where she had the opportunity to focus on Show Dance. However, Vilma is enthusiastic and interested in many different dance styles. Teaching is Vilma’s passion, and she wants to share the joy of dance with people of all ages.
As a dance teacher, Vilma has been described as nice, lovely and skillful. When asked for some feedback, dancers have told that she meets the dancers as themselves and that her classes have a warm atmosphere. In addition, dancers describe that Vilma’s teaching is all about being gracious about what you do, but still knowing how to challenge everyone on their own level.
Vilma likes to create a fun, safe and evolving atmosphere in her classes. She is enthusiastic and inspiring and constantly wants to develop and learn interactively, drawing inspiration from different directions.
