Description
The Flamenco Course for Beginners introduces you to flamenco dance from the Andalucia region of southern Spain. The classes include practising the basic techniques of the flamenco – tapping with shoes, hand and body movements – as well as working on a choreography. The course is suitable for beginners and also for those who are already a little bit familiar with flamenco.
You will need sturdy, slightly heeled shoes. For example character shoes are good for this course. We do not use nailed shoes in this course because of the floor in the dance hall.
Nunu Ahtiainen
Nunu Ahtiainen is a theatre-art director and flamenco dance teacher who recently moved to Turku. Her love for flamenco was ignited in a beginner’s course in 2008 and since then she has studied the genre both in Finland and in the birthplace of flamenco, Spain. The world of flamenco is diverse and vast, it is a whole culture.
What attracts Nunu to dance is, among other things, its expressive power and strong contrasts and, of course, its rhythmic joyfulness. As a teacher, Nunu wants to pass on not only technical dance skills, but above all the joy of dance that she herself has experienced through flamenco.
