The twerk, which has gained great popularity in the world, focuses on the movements of the pelvic area. Twerk has its roots in various African American and African dances, including mapouka, baikoko, niko and chakacha. With slavery, the dances associated with the cultural traditions of different countries, cultures, and tribes in Africa have become mixed, and that is why the roots of the twerk cannot be associated with the dances of just one region or cultural heritage. The concept of twerk started to be used in the late 80s, for example in the context of the bounce hip hop trend in New Orleans.

Twerk moves can be easily taken to the dance floor and probably that is why it is commonly seen at parties. During twerk classes, you will get diversely familiar with various techniques, such as shaking, jiggle, thrusting and throwing the hip and bounce as well as some floorwork. At the beginning of the class, there is a warm-up, after which we go through some basic movements. Twerk develops comprehensively physical fitness, especially back, thighs, glutes and abdominal muscles.

Relaxed and comfortable clothes, indoor exercise shoes or sneakers and a water bottle are great choices for these classes. Shorts or other similar pants with a moderately loose or flexible material are the best choice, as it is more difficult to twerk in tight clothes.

You need knee pads to the twerk classes.

Twerk classes are meant for over 16-year-olds.

Twerk Course for Beginners

If this is your first time twerking, this beginners’ course is just for you. To attend the course, you do not need to have any previous experience of twerk or any other dance styles. The beginners’ course introduces to the dance style, its history and the most important techniques. We recommend starting twerk with the beginners’ course, even if you already have some previous dance background.

Twerk, advanced beginners (drop-in)

Twerk classes for advanced beginners are aimed at those who have already been twerking before, for example participated in the twerk course for beginners. During the class, we practice the basic techniques of twerk, learn new techniques and variations and work on a short choreography.

Twerk, intermediate (drop-in)

Twerk intermediate classes are aimed at those have been twerking regularly for longer time. The class includes both different exercises of twerk techniques and choreography.

Twerk Technique

Twerk is an effective way to work out, so by practicing twerk techniques, you will simultaneously get your body in shape! The class is a combination of both training exercises and twerk techniques. The class is about sweat and fun, without any choreography.

The class does not require any previous twerk experience. ake knee pads or leg warmers with you to the class to protect your knees. In addition, do not forget a sweat towel.

Sensual Twerk

Sensual Twerk classes are twerk dance classes spiced up with feminine and sensual body language. During the class, we will practice different twerk techniques by concentrating on hip movements and creating feminine and sensual dance choreography.

Metal Booty Queen Twerk Class

Rock your booty! If you are a fan of heavier music and twerk, this class is for you. In Metal Booty Queen classes, we will twerk to metal and hard rock music.

During the class, we work on a dance choreography, which also uses a lot of different hip techniques familiar from twerk. At the beginning of the class, we start with a warm-up and practice techniques performed in the choreography. This is an open level class, so it is recommended to have some previous dance experience. You will need comfortable dance clothes, sneakers and a bottle of water. Please bring knee pads or leg warmers with you as well to protect your knees.

Twerk Freestyle Course

Looking for your own movement – small steps towards a more confident freestyle! In this course, you get to know how to produce your own movement and practice improvisation skills. The aim of the course is to create a warm atmosphere, so that freestyle is as comfortable as possible. The classes consist of warm-up and exercises that support your own freestyle. In the first class, we will go through the principles of a safer space. All the exercises are voluntary, and nobody has to perform alone against their will.

Twerk Small Group Course

Do you want to take your twerking skills to the next level with the support of a group in a conversational atmosphere? In this small group course, you will receive personal guidance and a familiar training group in addition to twerk workouts. We decide our common goals for the course during the first session, listening to everyone’s wishes. The course content takes into account the participants’ personal and group goals. The classes are designed accordingly. We recommend that you have danced twerk at least for one year prior to this course.
