The power of movement – balancing body and mind through dance and movement therapy
Welcome to the workshop on dance and movement therapy methods. You don’t need to have dance experience to participate in the workshop, just an interest in your own body and the movement that comes from within it. Each participant will move in the class from the starting point of their own body. The guidance is gentle and permissive.
Dance and movement therapy is based on the idea that the body and mind are connected and that movement can be a tool for expressing and processing feelings, thoughts and experiences. Dance and movement are tools for expressing things that are otherwise difficult to express.
The workshop will consist of exercises alone, in pairs and as a group, sometimes also using touch. The workshop will consist of initial gathering and tuning in, various dance and movement therapy exercises, relaxation and sharing. We may also use writing and/or drawing as a tool for self-exploration during the workshop.
