Sikujua Mponda

Sikujua is an experienced and talented performer and dancer. One of his biggest goals is to bring cultural awareness to the dance industry and show what Afro-dance is all about.

Sikujua has worked internationally in Tanzania and has danced a variety of dance styles throughout her life. For the last six years she has been teaching dance, with a special focus on twerk and afrobeats. Today, her style is moving strongly from twerk to waistline dancing.

As a dance teacher, she strives to create a safer space for her students to shine with their strengths. She believes that the best dance experiences happen when you throw yourself in and dare to challenge yourself outside your comfort zone.

Waistline

Waistline is a class to practice different hip techniques and movement rhythms. The class is suitable for all levels and includes both technique practice and choreography.

Afrobeats

Afrobeats is a mix of traditional and modern African dance movements and styles. According to Sikujua, it is a combination of self-expression, self-acceptance and having fun on the dance floor. Afrobeats have gained worldwide popularity thanks to their catchy rhythms and energetic movements. It’s a great way to get to know Afro culture and music. Afrobeats originated in Nigeria, where it was developed by Fela Kuti based on the Afrobeat style of music.
