MARITA GUEVARA

Marita Guevara is a dancer and a choreographer who has performed since she was a child, when it comes to dance, music and theater.

During her dance studies, she focused especially on finding her own way of dancing in several different dance styles and developing as a choreographer.

Marita has listened to Latin American artists and danced Latin dances at family parties since her childhood, and she got to know the rhythms of reggaeton especially while spending time in Miami.

Dance is an outlet for self-expression, and Marita wants to give her dancers the opportunity to discover new dimensions in their own body movements while respecting the origins of the dance style.

REGGAETON

Reggaeton is a Latin dance and music style born in the 1990s and it has been influenced by different dance styles, for example South and Middle American dances, such as dancehall, various Afro dances as well as hip hop. Reggaeton is characterized by strong dynamic fluctuations, polyrhythmics and playing with chest and hip isolation in particular. Both strong accents and soft sensual movements are present and they alternate in reggaeton. The roots of the reggaeton dance are inter alia in Panama, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
