Show Dance, open level (5 sessions), Fridays 27.2.–27.3. at 16.30–17.25, instructed by Vilma Karttunen

In this short course, you will dance a striking show dance choreography designed by Vilma. Show dance combines different dance styles, and in this course, we draw inspiration particularly from jazz and contemporary dance techniques. In addition to the choreography, you will practice dance technique and expression.

The course is suitable for those who dance regularly, but no prior experience in show dance is required.

What if I can’t participate every week?

Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.

What should I bring with me?

For the class, it is recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You can dance with indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Also take a water bottle with you and remember to drink enough after class.

Vilma Karttunen

Vilma is a dance teacher who graduated from Oulu University of Applied Sciences in spring 2021. Her path led her to Oulu, where she had the opportunity to focus on Show Dance. However, Vilma is enthusiastic and interested in many different dance styles. Teaching dance is Vilma’s passion, and she wants to share the joy of dance with people of all ages.

As a dance teacher, Vilma has been described as nice, lovely and skillful. When asked for some feedback, dancers have told that she meets the dancers as themselves and that her classes have a warm atmosphere. In addition, dancers describe that Vilma’s teaching is all about being gracious about what you do, but still knowing how to challenge everyone on their own level.

Vilma likes to create a fun, safe and evolving atmosphere in her classes. She is enthusiastic and inspiring and she constantly wants to develop and learn interactively by drawing inspiration from different directions.
