Parisalsa con rumba

Cuban rumba is an important part of the rich blend that is Cuban salsa. There are three different styles of rumba: guaguancó, yambú, and columbia.

In this course, we’ll explore the movements, rhythms, and playful interaction of rumba guaguancó, as well as how to incorporate elements of rumba into couple salsa.

In this course, we’ll practice rumba technique, rhythm, and expression, as well as how to apply them naturally in the context of partner salsa. The goal is to bring more earthiness, playfulness, rhythmic richness, and a twinkle in the eye to the dance—the energy and dialogue characteristic of Cuban dance.

This course is suitable for dancers who have already mastered the basics of partner salsa and who want to deepen their understanding of Cuban dances and enrich their own dancing with elements of rumba.

Anna Ketopaikka

Dance captured Anna’s heart at an early age: she started dancing at the age of 5 in Ballet classes at the Tampere Ballet Institute. Over the years, she continued to study dance, including Jazz and Show Dance. Since 2010, Anna has focused intensively on Cuban dances. She trained as a salsa instructor with Cuban Ramón Silverio and she has been teaching since 2014.

“I founded Flama out of a burning passion for dance and movement. Dance has brought so much energy, strength, presence and dear friends to my life and I want to be able to share this pleasure to others as well. In my classes, I want to inspire people above all to find strength and joy in everyday life through dance.”

At Flama, Anna teaches Cuban Salsa (solo and couple salsa) and other Cuban dances, such as son and rumba, as well as bachata and reggaeton.
