Description
What if I can’t participate every week?
Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.
What should I bring with me?
For the class, it is recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You can dance with indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Also take a water bottle with you and remember to drink enough after class.
Urban Kiz
Urban Kiz is a couple dance style developed from kizomba. It was born in Paris, France, in the 2010s. As a music style, Urban Kiz has been influenced by hip hop, ghetto zouk and R&B. This dance with African and Caribbean influences combines smooth movements, intimate couple dancing and a delicate atmosphere created by the music. Urban Kiz emphasizes improvisation and communication between the dancers. The dance experience is intimate and emotional.
Tuomas Sirviö
Tuomas began dancing salsa and bachata while living in Paris. He returned to Finland in 2015, where he discovered kizomba, semba, and urban kiz, the latter of which captivated him. Having attended several international dance festivals and studied under top instructors, Tuomas decided in 2018 to complete the first part of the urban kiz teacher training with Curtis Seldon and Carola Tauler. Since then, he has been sharing what he has learned and developing his teaching methods, mainly in Turku.
“I hope my classes leave a positive vibe, provide good basics for urban kiz, encourage to interpret music and realize oneself on the dance floor without boundaries. See you in the dance classes and on the dance floor!”
