Reparto
The Cuban equivalent of Reggaeton is known as Cubato, but many also call it Reggaeton Cubano. There are subgenres of this music, one of which is reparto. It originated in the slums and is particularly popular among the lower classes and young people. Reparto is a fast-paced style of music, whose rhythm is based on the clave rhythm of Cuban rumba, and many of the dance moves have also been created to this same rhythm.
Salsa con Afro
This class combines salsa and Cuban Afro-dance movements (e.g., Yorùbá dances). The class is danced to Cuban salsa/timba music. Cuban Afro dances are dances that originated from the cultural heritage of African slaves and have developed their own unique form in Cuba over the centuries. They are based in particular on West African (e.g., Yorùbá, Bantu) rhythms, movements, and rituals.
Ray Herrera
Ray is a charismatic Cuban dancer and teacher who has performed on Cuban television ballet and toured Europe and Latin America with famous choreographers such as Santiago Alfonson, artistic director of Tropicana Cabaret. Ray currently lives in Italy and teaches salsa, rumba, reggaeton, and other Afro-Cuban dances. He has performed and taught at many of the most prestigious dance events in Italy, Europe, and Asia.
