The Female Dancehall workshops focus on the feminine style of dancehall and especially on attitude and expression – not forgetting the winau (or hip rotation) and other hip techniques. Authentic girl moves and steps developed by Jamaican dancers form the basis for the sequences and choreography in the workshops.
The workshops will start with a thorough warm-up, followed by a focus on different moves and styles of movement. After the moves, the coregraphy is practised.
You do not need previous experience in dancehall or any other dance genre to participate in the beginner workshop. The intermediate workshop is suitable for those who have mastered the basics of dancehall and have attended regular female dancehall classes, for example.
There are no acrobatic moves in Female Dancehall classes, so you don’t need knee pads.
