José studied folklore and popular dances at the Escuela Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba and graduated in 2008. José continued his studies in 2009 at Escuela Narciso Medina in Contemporary Dance. He danced with the Conjunto Folklorico Universitario de Cuba and performed at many events in Cuba. We will also organize a rhythm workshop for salsa dancers led by Jani Lehtioksa on Sat 7.9.

Do you know the feeling when you can’t find the beats to dance to in Cuban music? You’re not alone. The problem is not a lack of rhythm, but the European way of listening to African rhythms, on which salsa music is based. An hour and a half of rhythm class will program the ear to listen to music in a new way. Through enlightening examples, you will understand the difference between European and Cuban rhythm and learn how to turn your own ear to the Cuban frequency.

Time: Saturday 7.9.2024 at 14:00–15:30 (90 min)
Place: Flama Linnankatu (Linnankatu 84, 20100 Turku)
Level: open level

Lämpimästi tervetuloa 🧡
