Description
Afro: Oya (orisha)
Oya is one of the deities, or orishas, in the Afro-Cuban Yoruba tradition. In this class, you’ll explore the movement, rhythms and expression associated with Oya.
Open-level classes are more challenging than beginner classes. If you have a strong dance background, you’re welcome to join an open-level class even if you haven’t danced that particular style before.
Solo Salsa
Using choreography, you’ll practise Cuban salsa step variations, body movement and musical interpretation. This class is suitable if you have been practising the style regularly and actively for at least one or two years and know the basics well.
Couple Salsa
This workshop explores the character of Cuban salsa as a partner dance, focusing on rhythm, smooth connection with your partner and relaxed yet energetic movement. You’ll work on the body movement and musical interpretation typical of Cuban salsa, as well as practise dance figures.
This class is suitable if you have been practising the style regularly and actively for at least one or two years and know the basics well.
