Improver-level classes are suitable for dancers who know the fundamentals of bachata. The solo class is for those who have practised solo bachata for at least six months, and the partner bachata class is for those who have practised partner bachata for at least six months. The intermediate class is suitable for you if you have trained regularly and actively for at least one to two years and have a strong grasp of the fundamentals.

Bachata is a sensual and emotional dance and music style that is originally from the Dominican Republic. Bachata is now a highly popular dance with various styles: traditional Dominican style, sensual bachata, bachata moderna, and bachata fusion, which combines different styles. Bachata music is full of emotions and offers a lot of possibilities for various styling.
Bachata is a social dance, which means it is danced freely with different partners without pre-arranged choreography. In class, you will learn the skills of leading and following—how dancers communicate through movement: the leader guides the dance through subtle body movements and hand signals, while the follower responds naturally. This makes improvisation, being present in the moment, and dancing with anyone possible—even if you have never practised together before. In our classes, you will not only learn patterns, but also the correct technique for executing movements and receive tips for social dancing. You do not need to bring a partner, as partners are rotated during class.
Severi and Wilanda began working together in 2024. They teach weekly classes at Dance School Baila Baila in Helsinki and lead workshops at a variety of events around Finland and the Nordic countries, sharing their passion for bachata with the wider dance community. Last summer, they studied Bachata Sensual on the teacher training course led by internationally renowned instructors Korke and Judith.
In their dance style, Severi & Wilanda combine the fundamentals of traditional bachata with the softness of Bachata Sensual, adding musicality, playfulness, and elements from various fusion styles such as bachazouk.
In their classes, Severi and Wilanda focus on comfortable and safe partnerwork, technical precision, and the authentic spirit of improvised social dancing. Rather than focusing on long choreographies, they explore several different options within shorter combinations and then practise effective leading and following technique.
