Reggaeton

Reggaeton is a Latin dance and music style born in the 1990s and it has been influenced by different dance styles, for example South and Middle American dances, such as dancehall, various Afro dances as well as hip hop. The roots of the reggaeton dance are for example in Panama, Puerto Rico and Cuba.

Reggaeton is characterized by strong dynamic fluctuations, polyrhythmics and playing with chest and hip isolation in particular. Both strong accents and soft sensual movements are present and they alternate in reggaeton. Reggaeton classes are full of power, energy and attitude!

Salsa Solo

Salsa is inspired by many Afro-Caribbean rhythms, such as the Cuban son, mambo, Cuban rumba and danzón. Salsa music has developed in many areas at the same time throughout its history: both in 1960s New York and in other countries of the American continent. Many different styles and trends have evolved from salsa.

Salsa is a happy and energetic dance where the main thing is to have fun to the rhythm of catchy music. In the beginner lessons, you’ll break away to the rhythms of salsa and practice the basic steps and technique of salsa, as well as bodywork and rhythm. Solo salsa is a fun way to enjoy music and movement.

Bachata Solo

Bachata is a sensual and emotional dance and music style that is originally from the Dominican Republic. Today, bachata is a very popular dance with different styles: Dominican traditional style, sensual bachata and bachata fusion combining different styles.

In bachata solo classes, you learn step variations and foot technique of bachata, body movements, styling and musicality. At Flama, the bachata classes are mainly based on sensual bachata and bachata fusion. Bachata music is full of emotion and offers a lot of possibilities for various styling.

Mirka Saali

Mirka has been dancing different dance styles for a long time. She started dancing at the age of seven with ballroom dancing and continued until her teenage years. She found dance again in 2010 and fell in love with latin dances, especially Cuban dances. After that, she has danced many different dance styles.

As a teacher, Mirka is compelling and purposeful but still easy-going. There is always a cheerful atmosphere in the classes. For Mirka, the most important thing in teaching is the joy of dance, enjoying the music and her own movement, and pushing her own boundaries.

Mirka has taught different kinds of Latin dances and Show Burlesque at Flama from 2018. Mirka is also the leader of three of Flama’s performing dance groups: the Flama Crew, the Flaming Firecrackers and La Calentura.
