Couple Salsa Workshop for Beginners"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In this Couple Salsa Workshop for Beginners, we practice the basics steps, rhythmics, some simple figures as well as technique of Cuban Couple Salsa, also known as Casino.<\/p>\n\n<p>This course starts from the very beginning, so you do not need to have any previous dance experience to join.<\/p>\n\n<p>The workshop has a voluntary exchange ring, where you change dance partners during the class. In the beginner class, you\u2019ll get familiar with the basic steps of partner salsa, rhythm, a couple of common basic patterns, and the techniques of leading and following. <\/p>\n\n<p>Cuban salsa is especially based on Cuban son, a music and dance style from the early 20th century that combines African rhythms with Spanish melodic influences. It is a rich blend, both musically and in terms of movement, shaped by various Cuban and Afro-Cuban rhythms and dances. <\/p>\n\n<p>In this Couple Salsa Workshop for Beginners, we practice the basics steps, rhythmics, some simple figures as well as technique of Cuban Couple Salsa, also known as Casino.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the class, you can dance with indoor sneakers or socks. Clothes that are comfortable to move in are the best choice for these classes and we recommend bringing a water bottle with you as well.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is social dancing?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Cuban salsa is a social dance, meaning that it is danced freely with a partner without any prearranged choreography. The dancers communicate through movement: the leader guides the dance and the follower responds naturally. This allows improvisation, living in the moment, and, once you have learned the basics, dancing with anyone \u2013 even if you have never practiced together before.  <\/p>\n\n<p>At Flama\u2019s partner dance classes\u2026<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>No previous dance experience is required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can join in on your own or with a partner<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can let go of everyday thoughts<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You will learn the basics of the dance and can participate in dance parties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019ll meet new people and become part of Turku\u2019s dance community<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anna Ketopaikka<\/h3>\n\n<p>The course is held by Flama&#8217;s founder, Anna Ketopaikka, who has been dancing Cuban Salsa for over 15 years and teaching it since 2014.<\/p>\n\n<p>Dance captured Anna&#8217;s heart at an early age: she started dancing at the age of 5 in Ballet classes at the Tampere Ballet Institute. Over the years, she continued to study dance, including Jazz and Show Dance. Since 2010, Anna has focused intensively on Cuban dances. She trained as a salsa instructor with Cuban Ram\u00f3n Silverio and she has been teaching since 2014.<\/p>\n\n<p>&#8220;I founded Flama out of a burning passion for dance and movement. Dance has brought so much energy, strength, presence and dear friends to my life and I want to be able to share this pleasure to others as well.
