What if I can’t participate every week?<\/h3>\n

Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.<\/a><\/p>\n

What should I bring with me?<\/h3>\n

For the class, it is recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You can dance with indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Take your water bottle with you.<\/p>\n

Reggaeton<\/h3>\n

Reggaeton is a dance style born in the beginning of 1990s and it is is nowadays a globally popular dance and music style that has been influenced by various South and Central American dance styles, such as Dancehall, different Afro dances as well as Hip Hop. for example. Reggaeton has its roots in countries such as Panama, Puerto Rico and Cuba.<\/p>\n

Reggaeton is characterized by strong dynamic fluctuations, polyrhythmics and playing with chest and hip isolation in particular. The style is characterized by strong dynamic contrasts: powerful, fast accents alternate with soft, sensual movements in reggaeton. Reggaeton classes are full of power, energy and attitude!<\/p>\n

Meri Niemi<\/h3>\n

Meri is a dance teacher from Turku whose classes are filled with laughter and humor while training at full speed. Meri believes that working out and having fun do not exclude one another, on the contrary, the more fun dance classes are, the more likely we are to keep coming back to our hobby time and time again. When dancing, Meri is primarily interested in and inspired by the use of different energies and delving deeper into the qualities of movement. As an instructor she is a relaxed, but encourages dancers to always do their best in the moment \u2013 listening to their own bodies. Meri often receives praise from her students for her encouraging, positive energy and her clear and calm teaching style, which makes it easy even for beginners to keep up with the class. A motto often heard in Merin\u2019s classes is that the moves or choreography don\u2019t matter\u2014it\u2019s all about attitude. Everyone is welcome to Meri\u2019s dance classes just as they are. No matter the style, the focus is on discovering and nurturing your own unique way of moving.<\/p>\n

Meri teaches twerk and reggaeton at Flama, and occasionally also commercial dance classes. You may also spot her at the front desk or replying to your emails, as in addition to teaching, Meri works in the studio\u2019s office.<\/p>\n
