What if I can’t participate every week?<\/h3>\n

Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.<\/a><\/p>\n

What should I bring with me?<\/h3>\n

For the class, it is recommended to wear clothes that are comfortable to move around in. You can dance with indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Also take a water bottle with you and remember to drink enough after class.<\/p>\n

Afrobeats Performance<\/h3>\n

Afrobeats is a general term or \u201cumbrella term\u201d for today\u2019s popular urban music genre originating from West Africa. Afrobeats is also played in Finnish clubs nowadays, and during these classes, you will learn the most impressive moves. In the class, we focus on steps danced to Afrobeats music, particularly Ghanaian (azonto) and Nigerian (naija steps & legwork), approaching it in a fun, African style. The session includes steps, technique, and choreography. Challenges and sweat guaranteed to suit everyone.<\/p>\n

Minna Nerg<\/h3>\n

Minna, whose stage name is Dance Euphoria, is a versatile dance teacher based in Turku. Starting out with the open-mindedness of a contemporary dancer, her dance journey has taken her from the world of West African dance to the Caribbean, to places where dance lives on the streets and in people’s homes, offering self-expression, freedom, and resistance. Dance is not just steps, it is above all culture and shared joy!<\/p>\n

As a teacher, Minna strives to inspire and encourage her students, believing that everyone has the opportunity to exceed their limits and learn something new through dance. Regardless of the dance style, Minna wants to dance with all her heart and pass on the joy of dancing to others.<\/p>\n

During Flama’s weekly classes, Minna teaches bachata solo, Cuban salsa solo, Jamaican female dancehall, and West African street dances. The Caribbean mix class offers a constantly changing selection of different styles from the Caribbean \u2013 from rumba and son to soca and reparto!<\/p>\n

In the Afrobeats Performance course, we work on Minna Nerg\u2019s afrobeats choreography, which will be performed at the Flama Spring Show on Wednesday 27.5. at Linnateatteri. You can join the course even if you are unable to participate in the performance.<\/p>\n

The course is suitable for those who attend afrobeats class regularly.<\/p>\n
