What if I can’t participate every week?<\/h3>\n

Absences from classes can be made up during the same term in any other class or drop-in session. This way, no dance session will be wasted! Read more.<\/a> <\/p>\n

What should I bring with me?<\/h3>\n

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and feel good.<\/p>\n

You can dance in your socks or in soft ballet shoes designed for practice. Be sure to bring a water bottle with you. <\/p>\n

Adult Ballet<\/h3>\n

Adult ballet classes introduce participants to classical ballet technique, practice ballet-specific expression, and dance short sequences. Ballet develops deep muscles and improves balance, coordination and posture. In addition, the bodily expression gains new dimensions.<\/p>\n

The classes consist of warm-ups, exercises at the barre, floor work, and movement sequences. In Flama’s ballet classes, we dance in a relaxed, graceful, and lighthearted manner, without forgetting the basics of ballet. <\/p>\n

Ida Martikainen<\/h3>\n

Ida is a present and gentle dance instructor who loves bodily expression. She has completed Basic Education in the Art of Dance between 2004\u20132013 in Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Dance Institute, majoring in Classical Ballet and having Contemporary Dance, Jazz Dance and Repertoire Dance as her minors. In addition, she has been involved in several dance projects both as a dancer and as a choreographer.<\/p>\n

According to Ida, dancing is a journey to one\u2019s own body and in the way attach to a common space. She thinks that the most important element of the dance class is to stay present in the same place and time: the momentary synchronization and the common sense of the bodies. Through her teaching, Ida wants to get the dancers to feel their bodies powerful and bright.<\/p>\n

Have you already been introduced to the basics of ballet? In this course, we continue exploring the world of ballet, deepening our skills in technique and expression, and dancing short combinations \u2013 all at a gentle pace. <\/p>\n

The course is suitable for those who have been dancing ballet for about six months, for example, participants of Flama\u2019s adult beginner ballet course.<\/p>\n
