What should I bring with me?<\/h3>\n

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and feel good.<\/p>\n

You can dance in indoor sneakers, dance shoes, or socks. Also take a water bottle with you and remember to drink enough after class.<\/p>\n

Couple Salsa<\/h3>\n

Flama’s couple salsa classes are all Cuban style. Cuban couple salsa is an energetic and joyful social dance. In the classes, you will learn the rhythms, steps, body movements, and styling of salsa, as well as the typical patterns used in Cuban salsa. <\/p>\n

Cuban salsa is a social dance, which means that it is danced freely with different partners without any prearranged choreography. The classes teach the skills of leading and following, which is how dancers communicate through movement: the leader guides the dance with small body movements and hand signals, and the follower responds to them naturally. This allows for improvisation, living in the moment, and dancing with anyone\u2014even if you’ve never practiced together before. <\/p>\n

Cuban salsa is based in particularly on Cuban son: a music and dance style from the early 20th century that combines African rhythms (e.g., clave, call and response structure, percussion instruments) and Spanish melodic influences (e.g., guitars, singing). Cuban salsa is a rich mix of music and movement, with influences from Cuban rumba, mambo, cha-cha-ch\u00e1, and other Cuban and Afro-Cuban rhythms and dances. <\/p>\n

Anna Ketopaikka<\/h3>\n

Dance captured Anna’s heart at an early age: she started dancing at the age of 5 in Ballet classes at the Tampere Ballet Institute. Over the years, she continued to study dance, including Jazz and Show Dance. Since 2010, Anna has focused intensively on Cuban dances. She trained as a salsa instructor with Cuban Ram\u00f3n Silverio and she has been teaching since 2014.<\/p>\n

“I founded Flama out of a burning passion for dance and movement. Dance has brought so much energy, strength, presence and dear friends to my life and I want to be able to share this pleasure to others as well. In my classes, I want to inspire people above all to find strength and joy in everyday life through dance.”<\/p>\n

At Flama, Anna teaches Cuban Salsa (solo and couple salsa) and other Cuban dances, such as son and rumba, as well as bachata and reggaeton.<\/p>\n

Would you like to learn how to dance fun Cuban salsa? In the beginner’s course, you will learn the basic steps, rhythms, and most common basic patterns of Cuban salsa, also known as casino, as well as leading and following techniques \u2013 and above all, you will fall in love with this wonderful dance! <\/p>\n

This course is suitable for beginners. You can join without any previous dance experience.<\/p>\n

You can sign up alone or with a partner. During the lessons, partners are changed in a circle. If you wish, you can also dance only with your own partner. <\/p>\n
