Twerk<\/h3>\n

Twerk, which has gained great popularity in the world, focuses on the movements of the pelvic area. Twerk has its roots in various African American and African dances, including mapouka, baikoko, niko and chakacha. As a result of slavery, dances related to the cultural traditions of African countries, cultures and tribes have been mixed. That is why the roots of twerk cannot be associated with the dances of just one region or cultural tradition. The concept of twerk was introduced in the late 80\u2019s, e.g. in the context of the bounce hip hop trend in New Orleans. <\/p>\n

Twerk moves can be easily taken to the dance floor and probably that is why it is commonly seen at parties. During twerk classes, you will get diversely familiar with various techniques, such as shaking, jiggle, thrusting and throwing the hip and bounce as well as some floorwork. At the beginning of the class, there is a warm-up, after which we go through some basic movements. Twerk improves physical fitness comprehensively, especially back, thigh, buttock and abdominal muscles. <\/p>\n

For the class, it\u2019s best to wear clothes that are comfortable to move in and feel good. Your trousers should be made of loose-fitting fabric, as it\u2019s harder to master twerking techniques in very tight leggings. You can dance in indoor trainers, dance shoes or just in your socks. <\/p>\n

Twerk classes also involve floor work, so it\u2019s a good idea to bring knee pads or shin guards to protect your knees. Knee pads are also available from the Flaman online shop and at our studios. <\/p>\n

Twerk classes are meant for over 16-year-olds.<\/p>\n

Twerk Technique<\/h3>\n

Twerk Technique
Twerk is an effective way to work out, so by practicing twerk techniques, you will simultaneously get your body in shape! The class is a combination of both training exercises and twerk techniques. The class is about sweat and fun, without any choreography. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s a good idea to have some experience of the basic twerk techniques before joining the class. <\/p>\n

Sensual Twerk<\/h3>\n

Sensual Twerk classes are twerk dance classes spiced up with feminine and sensual body language. During the class, we will practice different twerk techniques by concentrating on hip movements and creating feminine and sensual dance choreography. <\/p>\n

Emilia Uusitalo<\/h3>\n

Emilia is an approachable and inspiring instructor whose expertise has been honed through over 20 years of dance experience. Emilia has been teaching twerk, from beginners to advanced levels, since 2022. As an instructor, Emilia is encouraging and attentive to the group\u2019s needs and wishes. Her teaching is also underpinned by strong pedagogical skills, gained from her university studies in group facilitation. Everyone is welcome to join Emilia\u2019s dance classes just as they are! <\/p>\n

The level for improvers <\/g>is suitable for you if you already know the basics of the dance style. This level is usually suitable for those who have been practicing actively and regularly for about half a year or a year. Open-level classes are more challenging than beginners\u2019 classes. You can take part in an open-level class if you\u2019re familiar with the basic techniques of the dance style in question. <\/p>\n
