The course consists of nine sessions and the classes are held on Thursdays from the 14th of April to the 9th of June at 17:15\u201318:10. The course is instructed by Meri Niemi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The course fee is 105 \u20ac and it includes nine dance sessions. Sign up for the course by purchasing it from our webshop<\/a>.

You can join our drop-in classes (black ones in the schedule) whenever it suits you. Just book your classes in advance through our reservation system or by email: info@flama.fi<\/a>. Some of our classes might seem full at the moment, but we warmly recommend you to snap the queue spots as early as possible, because our list of participants changes a lot. Most of the time the dancers in the queue get to participate in the class in the end.<\/p>\n

You can pay our drop-in classes either with single tickets or with any of our punch cards. Our\u00a0 courses, on the other hand, have separate course fees and you sign up for the courses by purchasing them from our webshop<\/a> or by sending an email to info@flama.fi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Our Twerk Classes<\/p>\n

The twerk, which has gained great popularity in the world, focuses on the movements of the pelvic area. Twerk has its roots in various African American and African dances, including mapouka, baikoko, niko and chakacha. With slavery, the dances associated with the cultural traditions of different countries, cultures, and tribes in Africa have become mixed, and the roots of the twerk cannot be associated with the dances of just one region or cultural heritage. The concept of Twerk was introduced in the late 80\u2019s, e.g. in the context of the bounce hiphop trend in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

Twerk moves can be easily taken to the dance floor and probably that is why it is a commonly seen at the parties. During twerk classes, you will get diversely familiar with various techniques, such as shaking, jiggle, thrusting and throwing the hip and bounce as well as some floorwork. At the beginning of the classes, we will have a warm-up, after which we will go through some basic movements. The rest of the class is reserved for the choreography. Twerk improves physical fitness comprehensively, especially back, thigh, buttock and abdominal muscles.<\/p>\n

Our twerk classes are meant for over 16-year-olds and you need your own knee pads for this course.<\/p>\n
