Reggaeton is a Latin dance and music style born in the 1990s and it has been influenced by different dance styles, for example South and Middle American dances, such as dancehall, various Afro dances as well as hip hop.

Reggaeton is characterized by strong dynamic fluctuations, polyrhythmics and playing with chest and hip isolation in particular. Both strong accents and soft sensual movements are present and they alternate in reggaeton. The roots of the reggaeton dance are inter alia in Panama, Puerto Rico and Cuba.
